The Polish born opera singer originally trained as a baritone but enjoyed great success as a tenor. He possessed a large artistic range and was noted for his portrayal of Richard Wagner's operatic roles. His brother, Eduard De Reszke, was also a famous operatic singer. He appeared for the first time in Paris, April 1896, and performed with his brother for many seasons both in London and in New York. He had a magnificent bass voice. |
