Hannibal Ante Portes
Born 247 BC, North Africa - Died 182 BC, Libyssa, Bithynia [Turkey]

Carthaginian general, one of the great military leaders of antiquity, who commanded the Carthaginian forces against Rome in the Second Punic War (218-201 BC) via the famous march across the Alps. From a military standpoint, Hannibal's role in the conquest of southeastern Spain in the 220's BC was an equally important feat.

And yet with all of his success and glory, in the end, Hannibal committed suicide by poison instead of surrendering.
