The need for flaps originated because store owners would take the entire lid off of the box to have more room for displaying the various brands of cigars. To make it easy to recognize the various brands a pop up flap would be added to the box and would be visible from across the room. Some flaps would remain flat covering part of the cigars identifying just the price. Flaps would vary in size depending on the dimensions of the box. |
